Permits to visit Kapiti Island must be obtained from the Department of Conservation telephone 54-21-758.

Ferry departs from Paraparaumu Beach daily at either 9.00 or 9.30 am.

The crossing to Kapiti Island takes approximately 15 minutes. The return journey commences between 3.00 and 4.00 pm.

Nga Manu Nature Reserve offers you an opportunity to experience New Zealand's unique native flora & fauna.

Tuatara - Kiwi - Morepork - Tui - Fantail - Native waterfowl - Kea - Kaka plus many other native birds.

Nocturnal house - Eel feeding (2pm daily) - Bush walks - Fernery - Wildlife Ponds.

Wheelchair access - Information centre - Souvenirs - Refreshments - Picnic & BBQ areas.

15 hectares dedicated to New Zealand Native Flora & Fauna. Educational groups catered for with displays - talks and educational resource packs.

Nga Manu Trust is a privately funded charitable trust dedicated to preserving NZ flora and fauna. The Trust promotes awareness and education of conservation needs. School groups and individuals are encouraged to utilize Nga Manu as a hands on learning experience.
